To bring attention to Tropenmuseum’s diverse sound collections and the knowledge and histories that are embedded in these collections, Research Center for Material Culture and RE:VIVE announce their Unlocking Sounds collaboration featuring new EPs from three leading contemporary artists.

In concert with Keti Koti - the Emancipation Day (end of slavery) in Suriname - the Tropenmuseum will organise an annual distinguished public lecture and debate around the theme of Slavery, Colonialism and Their Afterlives within Contemporary Dutch Society.

Global Earth Matters: Mining, Materiality and the Museum is a series of seminars that seek to re-center scholarly interest in the materiality of objects, opening onto broader questions of labor and making, skills and craftsmanship, on issues surrounding the (exploitative) economies from which these objects emerge.

On 10 November Dr. Christopher Breward, currently Rita Bolland Fellow of textile, fashion and dress at the RCMC, delivered the lecture Suiting Nations, The Myth of the Englishman´s Suit.
