The final closing of the Diasporic Connections: Ghana 60 Years After series has arrived. The Fanti-canoe will be exhibited at the OBA Imagine IC.

As part of the ongoing conversation, Diasporic Connections: Ghana 60 Years After, we made short video portraits with several Ghanaian-Dutch people. Starting from Ghanaian objects in the Tropenmuseum collection, we spoke about heritage, belonging, African diaspora, cultural appropriation and senses of home. The participants chose objects from the collection that were meaningful to them and brought objects from their homes that represented Ghana for them. A collaborative exhibition where the video portraits are on display at the Imagine IC exposition space in the OBA Bijlmerplein. There are now available below (in Dutch).

The RCMC and Imagine IC invite you to Ghana Thuis, a discussion on 14 December, 2017, moderated by Ghanaian-Dutch rapper, actor, spoken-word artist and host, Akwasi.

To mark the 60 anniversary of Ghana’s independence in 1957, the RCMC along with Imagine IC organized a year-long series of events.
