Perspectives on the Slavery Past and its Afterlife is a series of short lectures presented during Keti Koti that explores the link between the Dutch slavery past and current structures of power, exclusion, and inequality.

To mark 40 years of Surinamese independence, artist and researcher Sara Blokland together with FOTODOK initiated the project Srefidensi, Sranantongo for independence.

In concert with Keti Koti - the Emancipation Day (end of slavery) in Suriname - the Tropenmuseum will organise an annual distinguished public lecture and debate around the theme of Slavery, Colonialism and Their Afterlives within Contemporary Dutch Society.
