ZWART

Book Conversation | 10 May 2018 | Afrika Museum

ZWART is an anthology of Dutch stories by Afro-European writers. The stories vary from the autobiographical to fiction and poetry. Vamba Sherif and Ebisse Rouw made the selection and the result presents the diversity, agency, engagement, humour and free-spiritedness of ‘Zwart’. It shows that black is a complex concept that entails more than just colour.

Zwart

We will discuss the relevance, impact and the importance of the book. We ask the panellists: How do you position yourself as a black writer in a white literary world? What is the role of identity in this context? How do you manoeuvre between cultures?
