Wouter Welling

Wouter Welling (1964) is Curator Contemporary Art. His research interest lies in interculturality and globalisation in visual culture. He has explored these interests with attention to Africa and its diaspora.  

Publications

Wouter previously worked as art critic and independent curator. His most recent publications include Abdoulaye Konate: The World in Textile (Africa Museum, Berg en Dal, Primo Marella Gallery Milaan, 2013), Goddelijk en Griezelig: Het geheim van de slang (Afrika Museum, Berg en Dal, 2012) and “Art Unlabelled: Towards an Unconditioned Approach to Art” in Changing Perspectives – Dealing with Globalisation in the Presentation and Collection of Contemporary Art (KIT Publishers, 2012).  

Wereldmuseum Amsterdam is a museum about people, located in one of the most beautiful original museum buildings in the Netherlands.

Wereldmuseum Berg en Dal is a museum about people, located in the wooded area of Berg en Dal.

Wereldmuseum Leiden is a museum about people, located in a monumental building on the Singel.

Wereldmuseum Rotterdam is a museum about cultures in the present and the past.

WereldLab is an experimental branch of Wereldmuseum. Where we are shaping a Wereldmuseum of the future in Nijmegen.
