De Van Gulik collectie in het Nationaal Museum van Wereldculturen by NMVW - Issuu
Article | East Asian Collections
In this article, Willemijn van Noord, Junior Curator for the Chinese collections at Nationaal Museum van Wereldculturen, examines the twelve chinese paintings and calligraphies collected by Robert van Gulik, which will be exhibited in the Asian Pavilion of the Rijksmuseum from October 2020. These objects all come from the collection of the National Museum of World Cultures (NMvW, a merger between Museum Volkenkunde, the Tropenmuseum and the Afrika Museum since 2014). A total of 55 objects collected by Van Gulik are located in the NMVW. Van Noord's analysis thus asks what are these objects, and how did they end up here?
